Umran Malik has continued his excellent form in IPL 2022 with a solid performance against the Punjab Kings earlier today. He bowled a magnificent spell of 4/28, including a triple wicket maiden. Malik ended the innings in style with three wickets in the 20th over, where the Punjab Kings batters failed to score a single run.
Earlier in the Punjab Kings innings, Jitesh Sharma smacked two fours off Malik’s bowling in the same over. The first ball was sent to a boundary, and even the fifth ball of the over helped Sharma add four runs to his team’s tally.
However, Malik stunned him with his pace on the last ball of his over. The right-arm pacer fired a pacey bouncer which Jitesh Sharma failed to connect well. The mistimed pull shot went up in the air, and Umran caught it to send Sharma back to the dressing room.
The rising star of the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad has shown great character in this season so far. As mentioned ahead, he finished with figures of 4/28. In the final over of the innings, Malik dismissed Vaibhav Arora, Rahul Chahar and Odean Smith to complete his maiden four-wicket haul in the IPL.
He was on a hat-trick when he bowled the final ball of the innings to Arshdeep Singh, but it proved to be a team-hattrick as Arshdeep got run out on the last ball.
