The 65th match of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League is underway right now at the Wankhede Stadium, where the SunRisers Hyderabad are up against the Mumbai Indians in a do-or-die match. SRH received an invitation to bat first from MI captain Rohit Sharma. SRH set a 194-run target. Umran Malik did not have a good start to his spell.
Speaking about the first innings, Abhishek Sharma lost his wicket cheaply, but Priyam Garg played a fantastic knock of 42 runs at the top. He received great support from Rahul Tripathi who registered another half-century in the SunRisers Hyderabad jersey. Nicholas Pooran played a fine cameo of 38 runs as SRH finished with 193/6.
In an interview with the host broadcasters after the first innings, Priyam Garg said:
“I enjoyed very much. (On opening experience) I was told by the franchise that I would open. I was practicing to bat as an opener so I was planning that way only. (On the pitch) The new ball was coming off slow. As the ball got older, the ball came onto the bat well. It is a good score.”
Chasing 194 to knock SunRisers Hyderabad out of the tournament, Mumbai Indians got off to a decent start with Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan scoring forties each. Umran Malik was introduced into the attack to break the opening partnership, but he had a disastrous start as he went for eight runs without bowling a legal delivery.
Fans react as Umran Malik struggles to bowl with control at the start
Malik’s first ball was a no-ball on which Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma crossed over. Rohit faced the second ball which was a wide. The third ball was a no-ball again which hit Rohit’s helmet and crossed the boundary line. So eight runs were scored off the first three balls with all of them being illegal.
Here are some of the top Twitter reactions to that start:

Umran Malik gave 17 runs in that over but he shook Rohit Sharma & Ishan Kishan. Not a single convincing shot. #MIvSRH

Man, he crashed the ball into Rohit Sharma’s helmet, his pace is scary but Umran Malik needs more discipline #MIvSRH

Can you check if this is the first occurence in IPL and how many times it has happened before in all formats ?
Rhythm-Control-Pace all goes hand in hand.

-If Umran doesn't have the rhythm he won't get the control.
-His pace is of no use if he can't land the ball where he wants.
The difference is crystal clear.
Umran 1st Over(17 runs) Vs 3rd Over(4 runs 2 Wickets)
I've never been more excited looking at a bowler bowling wides and no balls. And it's beautiful.
