Jos Buttler took a big lead in the IPL 2022 Orange Cap race by recording his second century of the season earlier tonight at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The Rajasthan Royals are playing against the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 30th match of IPL 2022.
KKR captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided to field first. The Rajasthan Royals got off to a decent start with the bat thanks to their openers Jos and Devdutt Padikkal. The two players had a magnificent partnership of 97 runs for the first wicket before Sunil Narine rattled the stumps of Padikkal.
Skipper Sanju Samson then arrived in the middle and scored a 19-ball 38, smacking three fours and two sixes. Speaking to the host broadcasters during the innings of the Rajasthan Royals team, Kolkata Knight Riders head coach Brendon McCullum was quoted as saying as follows by Sportskeeda:
“(On Jos) Yes, he is in some nick. He is the best ball hitter and the pitch is great as well. We need to hold our lengths and maybe with a little bit of luck he may slice one up in the air. (On him being the only KKR batter with a 100) I said on the way to Hussey, reckon one of our boys may get a hundred. We may have to chase a big one.”
