The 30th match of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League happened between the Rajasthan Royals and the Kolkata Knight Riders earlier today at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. It was a cracker of a contest, which saw both teams dominate at times. Ultimately, RR came out on top in a run-fest. Yuzvendra Chahal stole the show with a five-wicket haul in the second innings.
Not long ago, Chahal was considered the number one leg-spinner in the country. However, the selectors ignored him for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 which happened in the Middle East. Since then, Chahal has performed exceptionally well in almost all games that he has played.
This year, Chahal is playing for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, and he has been the leading wicket-taker in the 2022 season. He took five wickets against the Kolkata Knight Riders, with the last three coming as a hat-trick. The three wickets of the hat-trick were Shreyas Iyer, Pat Cummins and Shivam Mavi. Before that, he picked up the wickets of Nitish Rana and Venkatesh Iyer.
Speaking about his planning for the match against the Kolkata Knight Riders, Chahal had said:
“I definitely plan with Ashwin. Whenever we are in the nets, we talk about the previous match and what we could have done better and also about the next match, which delivery to bowl to which batter, we watch videos together, so in that way, the planning is done.”
