As the year 2023 began with the introduction of two new leagues at the start of the year, the International League T20 (ILT20) and SA20 League in South Africa, everyone knew that T20 league is future of cricket.
In the last couple of weeks, we saw a number of T20 leagues emerging. While the Major League Cricket (MLC) kicked-off in USA, even domestic T20 leagues are now emerging in numbers in India and the latest to join the list is the Rajasthan Premier League (RPL), set to kick-off from the 27th August, Sunday.
The first-ever season of the Rajasthan Premier League is scheduled to commence on August 27th with the opening match set to witness the clash between Jodhpur Sunrisers and Jaipur Indians at the Barkatullah Khan Stadium in Jodhpur.
Alongside these teams, the competition features Udaipur Lake City Warriors, Jaanbaaz Kota Challengers, Shekhawati Soldiers Sikar, and Bhilwara Bulls.
Some of the notable players who will play in the league and have played for the Indian national cricket team includes the likes of Deepak Hooda, Deepak Chahar, Rahul Chahar, and Khaleel Ahmed, are all set to participate in the Rajasthan Premier League 2023.
Joining them will be a selection of the finest talents from Rajasthan, including Mahipal Lomror, Abhijeet Tomar, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Shubham Garhwal, and Aniket Choudhary etc.
The six teams in the 2023 Rajasthan Premier League will engage in a single round-robin format, vying for supremacy. Following this, the playoffs will feature three matches, culminating in the ultimate showdown of the tournament at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium on September 10th.
While the opening match will be played from the 8 PM Indian Standard Time (IST). Matches will be normally played from 7:30 PM IST while the double header matches will be played one at 3 PM and the other at 7:30 PM IST.
Before the Indian domestic season begins, every player would be looking to do well in these leagues before the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and look to find a place in their state team.
