The final match of the ICC World Test Championship series between the England cricket team and the Indian cricket team is currently underway at Edgbaston in Birmingham. Indian captain Jasprit Bumrah lost his first toss in international matches, but the right-arm fast bowler stunned the English bowlers after coming out to bat at Edgbaston.
Bumrah came out to bat at number 10 after James Anderson rattled the stumps of Ravindra Jadeja. The left-handed batter played an excellent innings of 104 runs which helped the visitors finish with a 400+ total on the board. Fans should note that the Indian cricket team was 98/5 when Jadeja joined hands with Rishabh Pant in the middle.
Pant and Jadeja had a marvelous 222-run partnership for the sixth wicket which helped the Indian cricket team cross the 300-run mark. Joe Root got the better of Pant when he was on 146, while Jadeja remained not out on 83 at the end of Day 1. When play resumed on Day 2, Jadeja added 21 runs to his total.
Bumrah walked in to bat at number 10 with Mohammed Shami already present in the middle. Last year, both bowlers had a fantastic partnership at Lord’s which helped the Indian cricket team register a memorable win against the England cricket team.
This year, Bumrah stole the show by scoring 31 runs off 16 balls. Shami scored 16 runs from 31 deliveries, while his captain absolutely destroyed the English bowlers. Bumrah showed no mercy to Stuart Broad. He hit four fours and two sixes in the over. One of the sixes came off a no-ball, while the last ball went for a single. There was also a five wides with the total going up to 35 runs in the 84th over.
