The eighth match of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League is currently underway where the Punjab Kings are battling the Kolkata Knight Riders. This match is happening at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Kolkata Knight Riders captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and invited Punjab Kings to bat first. Bhanuka Rajapaksa enjoyed the time in the middle as he scored 31 runs off nine balls.
The Punjab Kings captain Mayank Agarwal could not impress much as he lost his wicket to Kolkata Knight Riders fast bowler Umesh Yadav on the last ball of the first over. Next, Bhanuka Rajapaksa came into the middle and smashed 31 runs off just nine balls, smacking three fours and three sixes.
Talking about the toss that happened earlier today in Mumbai, PBKS captain Mayank Agarwal had the following to say:
“Obviously we need to start well, assess the condition, get some momentum and make it big in the end. Not much really, the things that we’re looking to tick few boxes, if we have the right attitude and right energy and that result comes on it’s own. Confirms one change, KG is back and Sandeep Sharma misses out unfortunately!”
Shreyas Iyer’s team has taken three wickets in the first seven overs, with Rajapaksa, Shikhar Dhawan and Mayank Agarwal back in the hut. Rajapaksa entertained the fans by smashing three sixes and a four off Shivam Mavi’s bowling. However, Mavi had the last laugh as he picked up Rajapaksa’s wicket.
