Delhi Capitals’ head coach Ricky Ponting has spoken about his future with the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise for the next season of the Indian Premier League, the IPL 2022.

Delhi Capitals has been the most improved team in the IPL recently, since Ricky Ponting has taken over as the Head Coach. But, before that, Delhi Capitals, or formerly Delhi Daredevils, was nowhere near that top 4.

For the past 2 or 3 seasons of the IPL, Delhi Capitals have made it through to the playoffs. But before that, they were just some meme material for fans. The franchise use to have some top players, but they all have failed for them, to name a few, AB de Villiers is best option.

The South African batsman has played for Delhi Daredevils, but was not upto the mark, whereas now, he is a top player in the IPL, playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Ricky Ponting, ever since taking the job, has made sure that those things never repeat again. And in just 4 years with them, he is already Delhi’s best ever coach.

Ricky Ponting talk about his future with Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022

The former Australia captain talked about his future in the IPL while speaking to the Grade Cricketers Podcast. He said that he is not contracted with the Delhi Capitals yet, but he hopes to be offered a contract soon and will be in Delhi next year.

He also talked about his four years stint as Delhi Capitals Head Coach and his achievements in those times, taking Delhi from bottom of the table to the Final in IPL 2021.

He also stated that he likes to work with the youngsters in Delhi setup, from Rishabh Pant to Avesh Khan to Shreyas Iyer.

Earlier in October, after the end of the IPL 2021, where Delhi lost to Kolkata Knight Riders in the Qualifier 2, Ricky Ponting had given a statement to the team where he talked about bringing back the most of players during the Auction.

As we all know, BCCI is set to conduct a mega auction before the IPL 2022, and as per rules, each franchise can only retain a maximum of 4 players, comprising of 3 Indian and 1 overseas player, or 2 Indian and as much overseas players. However, a franchise can even opted to either retain 1 or 2 players, or not retain anyone.
