Sanjana Ganesan posted a heartfelt message on Instagram after her husband Jasprit Bumrah took a six-wicket haul in the first ODI of the three-match series against the England cricket team. Bumrah took the wickets of Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Liam Livingstone, Brydon Carse, David Willey and Joe Root to register the best bowling figures by an Indian in ODI matches against the England cricket team.
Speaking of the first ODI match between the Indian cricket team and the England cricket team which happened at the Kennington Oval today, visiting captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to have a bowl first. Sharma read the conditions well because the overcast weather and the fresh pitch helped the fast bowlers a lot.
Jasprit Bumrah was on fire as he scalped six wickets. Previously, left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav held the record for the best bowling figures by an Indian in ODI matches against the England cricket team, having returned with figures of 6/25 in 2018, but now Bumrah has bettered him.
Explaining his plans after winning the Man of the Match award, Jasprit Bumrah said:
“Just going through the routine in the warmups – when you bowl with the new ball you try to search for swing. When there’s no swing you pull your length back but we saw there was swing for a long time. When there’s swing you don’t have to try to much, you just have to put it in the right areas and let the ball take over.”
