Lucknow Super Giants registered their third consecutive victory in IPL 2022 by trouncing last year’s tabletoppers Delhi Capitals at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Ayush Badoni was the hero for LSG once again. When Lucknow needed five runs off four balls, Badoni, who is playing his debut season, smashed a four and a six off Shardul Thakur’s bowling to guide the Super Giants home.
This is not the first time Badoni has done a match-winning job for the Lucknow Super Giants. He has been impressive in all innings he has played so far, and many fans feel that he is a future superstar in the making. Talking about the match that happened between LSG and DC, Quinton de Kock helped the Super Giants register a win with a splendid 80-run knock at the top.
Earlier in the match, Delhi Capitals opener Prithvi Shaw smashed 61 runs to help DC post 149 runs on the board. Ravi Bishnoi and Krishnappa Gowtham were the top performers for LSG in the bowling unit. Both spinners picked up a total of three wickets and also kept a check on the run-flow.
Speaking after the match, Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant told the host broadcasters:
“When the dew is like that, you can’t be complaining. As a batting unit, we thought we were 10-15 runs short and credit to them for pulling it back. We talked about giving our 100% till the last ball and we want to do that irrespective of where the game is going. I think the power play was fine but we didn’t get any wickets.”
