Mumbai Indians became the first team in Indian Premier League history to lose their first eight matches of any season. In IPL 2022, MI have played eight games so far and lost all of them. The Mumbai-based franchise started their tournament with a defeat against Delhi Capitals. Last night at Wankhede Stadium, they lost to Lucknow Super Giants. Former Mumbai Indians player Krunal Pandya bowled a fine last over for his new franchise Lucknow.
While KL Rahul had multiple options available to bowl the 20th over of the match against the Mumbai Indians, the Lucknow Super Giants captain decided to give the responsibility to Krunal Pandya. The left-arm spinner did not disappoint his captain as he conceded only two runs off six balls. Fans should note that the first ball of the over was a wide. So only one run came off the bat during Krunal’s last over.
In that over, Krunal picked up the big wicket of Kieron Pollard. While bowlers generally celebrate the wicket with their teammates, Krunal decided to jump over Pollard and give him a kiss on his forehead. Pollard was seemingly not in any mood to interact with his former teammate.
Pollard had a forgettable night at the Wankhede Stadium. He came out to bat when the Mumbai Indians wanted a blistering innings from him. However, he ended up scoring 19 runs off 20 balls. Speaking after the match, Krunal said:
“I was so thanking God that I got his wicket else he would have eaten my brains right through. He got me out and thankfully I got him else he would have spoken non-stop.”
