Faf du Plessis played a spectacular knock of 88 runs against Punjab Kings on his debut for Royal Challengers Bangalore. The new captain of RCB started off slow. He took his time to settle on the surface at the DY Patil Stadium. Once he got settled, RCB fans were in for a treat as du Plessis fired all cylinders and ended with 88 runs off 57 deliveries.
Punjab Kings captain Mayank Agarwal won the toss and decided to bowl first. Faf du Plessis and Anuj Rawat provided a decent start to Royal Challengers Bangalore. They added 50 runs for the first wicket in seven overs. Rahul Chahar then rattled the stumps of Rawat.
Faf du Plessis held one end and received good support from Virat Kohli. The duo built a fantastic partnership of 118 runs for Royal Challengers Bangalore. It seemed like du Plessis would complete a century on his debut for RCB. However, Arshdeep Singh dismissed him caught out when he was on 88.
Dinesh Karthik then provided a perfect finishing touch to Royal Challengers Bangalore’s innings. He aggregated 32 runs off 14 balls. Meanwhile, Kohli remained not out on 41 runs from 29 balls. RCB ended with 205 runs on the board.
