Umran Malik made his T20I debut last month against the Ireland cricket team. He had a forgettable debut but emerged as a hero in the second match, where he bowled the crucial last over and helped the Indian cricket team win the match. Today, he is a part of the Indian cricket team’s playing XI for their third T20I match against the England cricket team.

Like the first T20I against the Ireland cricket team, Umran got off to a forgettable start in the match against the England cricket team at Trent Bridge. Captain Rohit Sharma gave him the second over of the match, with Jason Roy and Jos Buttler batting for the England cricket team. The two English openers scored 16 runs off his six deliveries.

Rohit Sharma took Umran out of the bowling attack and reintroduced him after the powerplay overs ended. Umran dismissed Jason Roy straightaway and reduced the England cricket team to 61/2 at 7.1 overs. Roy looked good in the middle. After two failures in the first two matches, he scored 26 runs off 25 deliveries today for the England cricket team at Trent Bridge.

“We do not want to lose the winning confidence but there are a few things we want to try out before the World Cup. He (Umran) has got a great skill set and we just want to see how he responds to the international pressure. We just want to stand beside him and support whatever he does on the field.”
