The second match of the T20I series between the Indian cricket team and the Ireland cricket team is currently underway at the Village in Dublin. Sanju Samson made his return to the Indian playing XI for this match. He has replaced Ruturaj Gaikwad, who has been ruled out due to an injury.
Samson was surprisingly ignored for the home T20I series against the South African cricket team. He had a good IPL season, and before that, captain Rohit Sharma had said that Samson could be a key player in Australian conditions because he has got the six-hitting ability.
Even in the first T20I against the Ireland cricket team, Sanju Samson was left out of the Indian playing XI. He finally got a chance today when Ruturaj Gaikwad was injured. Captain Hardik Pandy announced this change at the toss, and it was met with a thunderous pop from the fans at The Village.
“When we bowled first we expected the wicket to do a lot more. Credit to the boys to do what was required with the ball and then chase down the total. Three changes – Ruturaj misses out because of his niggle, Sanju Samson comes in. They seem pretty happy (grins as the crowd roars upon hearing of Samson’s selection).”
