Twitter reacts as Deepak Hooda receives his 1st India cap 5 years after maiden international call-up

Deepak Hooda has received his maiden international cap ahead of the first match of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League series between the Indian cricket team and the West Indies cricket team. The match will get underway soon. The toss happened a few minutes ago at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where Rohit Sharma called the coin toss right and invited the visitors to bat first.

At the toss, Rohit Sharma informed that Deepak Hooda will play his first ODI for the Indian cricket team today. He received his maiden ODI cap from former Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli.

“It has been a long journey for India in ODI cricket, we have seen ups and down but when you play so many matches you’re bound to have so many ups and downs. Deepak Hooda makes his debut,” said Rohit Sharma.

Fans should note that the BCCI named Hooda in the Indian squad for a series against Sri Lanka in 2017 and then in the Nidahas Trophy in 2018. However, he did not get a single game in both series. Now, finally five years later, he is making his international cricket debut for the Indian cricket team.
