The 3rd and the final One Day International (ODI) match between India and South Africa has begun already in Cape Town, and the most shocking news coming from there is that, Ruturaj Gaikwad has been once again excluded from the Playing XI.
The Indian team have already conceded the series defeat to South Africa after having lost the first 2 matches of the three match series. The 3rd match is all about not allowing the Proteas to register a clean sweep.
Going into the toss, India’s captain KL Rahul confirmed that there are a total of 4 changes in the team from the last match. But surprisingly, young opening batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad was once again not tested as he has been excluded once again from the Playing XI.
Ruturaj Gaikwad is one of the most talented and young opening batsman coming through the ranks in India. He had an wonderful year 2021 as he scored lots of runs.
While playing for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, he win the Orange Cap for scoring the most runs in the tournament. He scored 635 runs.
He carried forward his form into the Indian domestic competitions as well. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he scored 259 runs from 5 matches. And then, he also had an extraordinary spell in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021, scoring 603 runs in the tournament from 5 matches, including 4 hundreds.
Gaikwad was then called up for the T20I series against New Zealand, but didn’t get a chance to feature in that series either. And now, he has once again been excluded as he is not included in the Playing XI for the 3rd ODI.
The fans though didn’t seem happy with that decision. They took to Twitter to express their frustration.
