One of the biggest talking points from the match was Dhoni’s sweet gesture after the match.
The Chennai Super Kings skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and decided to field first in Dubai. The wicket looked good for batting as half-centuries from Prithvi Shaw and Rishabh Pant helped the Delhi Capitals post a 170+ total. Shimron Hetmyer also played a decent inning of 37 runs. Josh Hazlewood was the pick of the bowlers for the Chennai Super Kings team, scalping two wickets in his four overs while conceding 29 runs to the Delhi Capitals team.
Chasing a 173-run total to win the match, the Chennai Super Kings team reached 160/5 in 19 overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad continued his phenomenal form in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League, scoring another half-century, while Robin Uthappa registered his first fifty for the Chennai Super Kings team. The equation was down to 13 runs off six deliveries.
Dhoni’s sweet gesture wins hearts after the match
MS Dhoni then finished things off in style with three fours off three deliveries bowled by Tom Curran in the last over of the match. Curran dismissed Moeen Ali on the opening ball, but then Dhoni did not allow him to complete his hat-trick in the game. He smashed three fours, while Curran bowled a wide as the Chennai Super Kings team qualified for the final match of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League with a 4-wicket win against the Delhi Capitals team.
