Virat Kohli is currently playing his 100th Test match for the Indian cricket team against the Sri Lankan cricket team at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. The former Indian captain received a special cap from the head coach Rahul Dravid before the start of the play on Day 1. His wife Anushka Sharma was also present for the special occasion.

During the brief speech that Virat Kohli gave during that ceremony, he said that his full family was at the venue to watch his 100th Test match. Luckily, India won the toss and decided to bat first, which meant the chances of seeing Kohli bat on the opening day of his 100th Test were very high, and after the fall of the two openers Mayank Agarwal and Rohit Sharma, Virat came in to bat at number four.

Virat looked in fine touch during his innings as he aggregated 45 runs off 76 balls before losing his wicket to Lasith Embuldeniya. He lost his stumps to the spin bowler, and the Indian cricket team lost their third wicket in the first innings.

The fall of that wicket meant that the wait for Virat’s 71st international century continued. He scored his 70th international ton back in November 2019 against the Bangladesh cricket team at Eden Gardens in a pink-ball Test. Since it was a such a special match for him, fans expected a big knock from the star player. However, he fell five runs short of his fifty.

If the Indian cricket team posts a big total on the board, it is unlikely that Virat will get another chance to bat in his 100th Test because the Sri Lankan team may lose by an innings. It will be interesting to see if Virat bats in the second innings and ends his drought of hundreds.
