The 25th match of IPL 2022 happened last night, where the Sunrisers Hyderabad prevailed over the Kolkata Knight Riders. SRH won the toss and elected to field first. The decision worked in the Orange Army’s favor as they reduced KKR to 31/3, taking the wickets of Venkatesh Iyer, Aaron Finch and Sunil Narine in the powerplay overs.

Shreyas Iyer and Nitish Rana tried to stabilize the innings, but the duo struggled to deal with the express pace bowled by the likes of Umran Malik and Marco Jansen. They looked to use the pace of the ball and try to play the shots behind the square.

As a result, there was a situation during an over bowled by Umran Malik where five fielders of the SRH playing XI were standing behind square in the deep.

Talking about the end result of the match, Kolkata Knight Riders scored 175 runs in 20 overs, riding on half-century from Nitish Rana and a cameo from Andre Russell. In reply, Sunrisers Hyderabad aggregated 176 runs for the loss of three wickets in 17.5 overs and won by seven wickets.

Speaking after his team’s defeat, Shreyas Iyer said:

“Feeling pretty drained and obviously a disappointment after putting such a good total on the board. I really thought it was a good total. The way Tripathi came in, he completely changed the momentum. He didn’t allow us to settle at all so credit to him.”

The batters can clear the in-field and score boundaries with ease in the V and on both sides ahead of the stumps. It is quite rare to see a field like that in T20 cricket, and here’s how fans on Twitter reacted to it:
