The 23rd match of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League is happening at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune right now. Five-time champions Mumbai Indians are up against the Punjab Kings team. MI captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to field first. Jaydev Unadkat picked up the big wicket of Jonny Bairstow for Mumbai.
The Punjab Kings got off to a solid start in Pune, courtesy of half-centuries from their captain Mayank Agarwal and his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan.
Both batters looked in great touch. While Dhawan is still playing in the middle, Agarwal lost his wicket to Murugan Ashwin soon after completing his first half-century of the new season.
England wicket-keeper batter Jonny Bairstow came out to bat at number three for the Punjab Kings. Fans expected that the duo of Dhawan and Bairstow would blow away the Mumbai Indians bowling attack. However, the MI bowling unit bowled tight lines and did not concede too many runs.
The partnership came to an end when Jaydev Unadkat rattled the stumps of Jonny Bairstow. The left-arm pacer beat the Punjab Kings batter with a change of pace as the PBKS star chopped on to his stumps. Unadkat picked up his first wicket of the night and then gave a stare and a smile to the opponent batter.
