IPL 2022 has not been the best season for KL Rahul as a batter. The right-handed batter is playing his first season for the Lucknow Super Giants. He is the captain of the team. In the first match of the season, Mohammed Shami dismissed him for a golden duck at the Wankhede Stadium. Now, in the fifth match happening at the same venue, Trent Boult has dismissed him on the first ball.
Rahul opened the innings with Quinton de Kock for the Lucknow Super Giants. Chasing a 166-run target to register their fourth consecutive win in IPL 2022, LSG lost the wicket of Rahul on the first ball of their innings. Many fans felt that the first ball from Trent Boult was perfect, and any batter would have gotten out to that delivery.
Earlier in the evening, Rahul won the toss and decided to bowl first. The Rajasthan Royals scored 165 in their 20 overs. From being 67/4 at the halfway mark, the Royals made a splendid comeback and finished with a decent score on the board. Shimron Hetmyer top-scored for them with a 36-ball 59, smashing one four and six sixes.
Speaking to the host broadcasters after the first innings, Hetmyer said:
“It was a little difficult to start. Their spinners bowled the ball in some really good areas. It wasn’t the easiest pitch to start on – it stayed on the slower side to start off. It was about staying until the end and cashing in later on.”
