The 63rd match of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League is underway at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai right now, where inaugural champions Rajasthan Royals are battling with the Lucknow Super Giants. RR captain Sanju Samson won the toss and opted to bat first. During the RR innings, there was some confusion that led to the run-out of James Neesham.

The confusion happened during the 18th over of the Rajasthan Royals innings, when Ravichandran Ashwin tapped a ball from Ravi Bishnoi towards the cover region. He had a mix-up with James Neesham as the New Zealand player was interested to take a run, but Ashwin looked at the ball.

Ashwin tried to sacrifice his own wicket as he stood out of his crease and allowed James to reach the striker’s end. However, Ravi Bishnoi took the bails off before Neesham could cross the line. Since Ashwin did not cross the half-crease, James was run out. Despite the run-out, Rajasthan Royals had a good finish to the innings as Trent Boult’s nine-ball 17 guided them to 177/6 in 20 overs.

Speaking with the host broadcasters after the RR innings, Ravi Bishnoi said:

“In the first over I bowled too full but then Rahul bhai, Quinny and KP (Krunal) bhai told me to pull my length back and bowl stump to stump. It was coming very nicely onto the bat, it wasn’t gripping (grins). I think 178 is a fighting score because a score around 180 gives their bowlers a cushion to experiment. But with our batting we should be able to chase it.”
