In a rather unexpected development that has taken place during the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League, West Indies captain and Mumbai Indians star Kieron Pollard has announced his retirement from all formats of international cricket. Pollard was the captain of the West Indies team in their away series against the Indian cricket team earlier this year.

The all-rounder even led the Caribbean team in the 2021 edition of the ICC T20 World Cup, where they managed only one win. As per reports, there was some friction between Pollard and the officials of Cricket West Indies. The coach even claimed that there were some people at the top who did not want Pollard to be where he was at.

With the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 just a few months away, Pollard’s absence will be a massive loss for the West Indies team. He has enormous T20 experience under his belt and could have been a valuable player for the squad in the Australian conditions.
