The game of cricket has changed a lot in the last few years. Earlier, the only aim of the players was to represent their nation and ensure that their team is the number one globally. However, with the advent of IPL and other T20 leagues, not all players now have the same goal.

Some players prefer to play in the cash-rich leagues and skip international series. While money-making should be a priority for the players, it should not come at the cost of an international match. Nevertheless, a few players have even retired from international cricket only to focus on their T20 careers.

Earlier, selflessness was widespread in cricket, a quality that is rarely seen nowadays. In this article, we will look at the ten most selfless acts in cricket history.

Rahul Dravid was the epitome of selflessness. There was not a single moment in his career where someone can tell that the right-handed batsman behaved selfishly. The former Rajasthan Royals captain was batting brilliantly in Tests. Still, he decided to hang up his boots after the Australia tour in 2012 so that the young talent can receive enough opportunities. He did not even get a proper farewell.

To take ten wickets in a single innings is the dream of every bowler. Jim Laker was the first bowler to achieve this milestone, whereas Anil Kumble later recorded it against Pakistan. However, before Kumble, New Zealand’s great bowler Richard Hadlee had an opportunity to add his name to the record books. He had taken eight wickets against Australia in 1985. Geoff Lawson then hit a ball from Vaughan Brown in the air, and Hadlee took the catch keeping his team ahead of his milestone. He later bagged the final wicket of the innings.
